Emmanuel Daniel is the founder of The Asian Banker. He retains the titles of
president and editor-in-chief of the Company he founded in September 1996,
and has led it to become the leading industry research, publication and
consulting company in the Asia Pacific region with a strong reputation
worldwide. As a strong advocate of providing business intelligence to the
financial industry, he realised the importance of training and education as
a tool in developing professionals in this field. Hence, he founded The
Banking Academy, the first banking school in Asia.
With a career that has spanned from management consultancy to journalism,
Emmanuel has established a reputation for incisive commentary and analysis
of critical issues affecting the industry and the region. He interviews with
and has access to a broad spectrum of CEOs, decision makers and significant
players in the industry. He is the principal author of several reports and
surveys published by the company and that is used widely by practitioners in
the region.
He was awarded the prestigious Citibank Excellence in Journalism Award for
the Asian region in February 1999 for his work in determining the impact of
the Internet on banking. He is a member of the Entrepreneurs Organisation
(EO), a prestigious grouping of young entrepreneurs of businesses worldwide
and is an associate member of The Asia Society's Hong Kong chapter.
Emmanuel travels widely and is sought after as a commentator on the
financial services industry as well as and business and trends in Asia. He
speaks regularly at high profile events in the United States, Europe and
around Asia as well as makes confidential boardroom briefings and training
to directors and senior executives of leading institutions on developments
in the industry. He has also served in various government advisory
committees on the financial services industry and more recently, as a member
of Council on Corporate Disclosure and Governance in Singapore.
